Recently, nearly 90 Canton High School students walked into a large yellow Distractology 101 trailer, not knowing what to expect. They walked out with perspectives, knowledge and lessons that could save their life.
Using state-of-art video modules, students learned about the negative effects of driving while distracted. They faced many different everyday scenarios.
Texting. Cell phone calls. Fooling around with friends. Reaching for an item on the car floor. Looking in the mirror to check your appearance. Eating. Changing the radio station.

In every case, CHS students experienced the tremendous impact of their actions -- and, more specifically, their lack of attention. Just a split second of distraction resulted in many simulated crashes.
The students spoke very highly of Distractology 101, stating it was a good experience that made them think about their driving habits and the importance of paying attention on the road. In striving to develop responsible young adults who make good decisions, Canton High School hopes every lesson from the simulation transfers to the real world of driving. We want our students to be safe.
