Get Involved!
Club Sign-Up Day is a big hit for CHS students
Get Involved! Get Involved!Students constantly hear this message at school and at home. And for good reason.
Learning and academics are the absolute priority at school, but clubs and activities are a vital part of a student's life. Sometimes his or her club is a passion, sometimes it represents his or her identity, sometimes it is simply fun -- and a healthy diversion.
Most importantly, school clubs allow students to build relationships and friendships with their peers. Being part of a group with similar interests builds confidence and self-esteem. Just ask them. Students love their clubs. They love being part of something special. They have a purpose.
Clubs provide that "connection" that we all need. And the more connected a student is to his or her school, the more successful that student will be in the classroom. So "Get Involved" and join a club.
On Tuesday, students had the opportunity to sign up at "Club Day" at Canton High School. Student reps from many of our clubs set up outside the cafeteria, and hundreds of students jotted down their names and email addresses. They learned about meeting times and activities associated with the club, and gained a sense of the fun.
Lots of good energy today. Thank you to the student reps and the teacher/club advisors for a great event today. Kudos to all those who signed up...took a risk...got involved.
If students are interested in starting a club, they should write a proposal, ask a staff member to serve as an advisor and submit the information to the main office.
